main()

The place at where execution of a program starts.

The parentheses ( aka brackets ) following the identifier, which are then then followed by curly braces { with an enclosed code block }, indicate that this is a function.

ALL programs have at least one function; main()

#include <iostream>

using namespace std ;

int main () {

	cout << "Hello, World!" << endl ;

	return 0;
}

Compile & Run:

Hello, World!
